What’s Included with Georgia Business Presence?

1. Domain Name

Your domain name is your company’s online address. Having a domain is the first step toward claiming your slice of the internet. With our service, you get to select the domain name of your choice, and we’ll work with you to make sure your preferred name is available.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is the unique part of a website’s URL. For example, the full web address for Georgia Registered Agent, LLC is https://www.georgiaregisteredagent.com, but our unique domain name is: georgiaregisteredagent.com.

How do I get a domain name?

Domain names can be purchased from any number of domain name registrars, or companies that work with registrars—like us. Before purchasing your domain name, you’ll need to consider two important factors:

  1. Name. Selecting your domain name is your opportunity to brand your online space. You’ll want to make sure your domain name is easily identifiable as your own, or at least connected to your business in some way.

Let’s say you own a flower shop in Athens called “Martha’s Fresh Flowers.” You could name your website after your company directly (like “marthasfreshflowers”), or indirectly (like “freshflowersathens”). Note that what you ultimately select will also depend on the names that are available.
  2. Ending. This is the last bit of a domain name, also called a “top-level domain” or TLD. Most companies’ names end with “.com.” But you can choose from a list of popular TLDs, including “.org” and “.net.”

How much does it cost to get a domain name?

Domain name prices vary by registrar, as well as by TLD. Unique TLDs—like “.store,” “.global,” or “.online”—tend to be more expensive. (Up to $100 in some cases.) For this reason, we recommend going with something more general, like “.com,” which is more affordable, way more common, and for that reason will probably be easier for your customers to find.

Our domain name service is free for the first year (up to $25), then start at $25+ a year after that. High value URLs will renew at a higher market value, but the the majority of the domains we offer are $25 a year.

2. Website

Your website is where your customers can learn more about your business, and even buy products online. In this sense, having a website is necessary for most companies hoping to sell goods or services online. Think of it this way: if your domain name is your street address, your website is your building. We give you an easy-to-use website that’s completely yours, allowing you to add and update content whenever you want, all for just $9 a month.

Do I need a website for my company?

It’s a good idea. While you won’t be breaking any laws if you decide not to get a website for your company, you’ll miss out on some easy opportunities to get more customers and drum up sales. Compared to a brick-and-mortar store (which will cost you hundreds if not thousands of dollars a month), a website is a fraction of the cost. And you can reach significantly more customers online than you can in-person.

How do I make a website?

Any decent web-hosting service will allow you to customize your website to suit your business’s needs. However, some services are expensive and some require knowledge of coding in order to make changes. Not with us. Our website hosting service gives you an easy-to-use, pre-built site that is easy to customize with drag-and-drop tools.

Never been on the back end of a website? Not a problem! You’ll receive a phone call from our service team shortly after you sign up. We’ll walk you through each step of the process, including how to get started on your website, as well as how to add text and photos.

What do I need before I start creating my website?

To make a basic website, all you really need to know is the name of your business and the products and/or services you provide. But to build a well-rounded website, you’ll probably want to consider the following:

  • Name of your business
  • Purpose or mission of your business
  • All the products and/or services you offer
  • Length of time you’ve been in your particular industry (if applicable)
  • Your own background and/or expertise
  • Contact information for your business (Need an address? Get Georgia Mail Forwarding!)
  • Business hours (if applicable)
  • Color scheme and/or logo for your business

3. SSL Security

The vast majority of websites now have something called an SSL certificate. This adds a level of security to your online presence that’s important for protecting your online information, and especially important for anyone making online sales.

What is SSL?

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. It refers to the technical process of scrambling web information so it’s only accessible with a secure connection.

What is an SSL certificate?

An SSL certificate is what signals to web users that your website is secure. Websites with an SSL certificate are preceded by “HTTPS” instead of “HTTP.” (The “S” stands for “secure.”)

Does my website need an SSL certificate?

Most likely. Online businesses really benefit from showing their customers they have a secure connection. Plus, your customers will feel more comfortable providing personal and financial information (necessary for online sales) if they know your website is secure.

4. Email Address

Everyone needs an email address these days—for business owners, it’s even better if it’s related to your business. We can do you one better. The email address we provide for you is directly connected to your domain name. So, if your company’s domain name is “marthasfreshflowers.com,” we can set you up with an email address like “[email protected].” With our service, you can choose up to 10 email addresses to add to your account.

What is a business email address?

A business email address is an email address you use strictly for business. Setting up a new account exclusively for your company will help you separate your personal life from your business activities.

How do I access my business email address?

Your business email can be set up through your online account. Shortly after you sign up, you’ll receive an email with instructions, as well as a phone call from someone from our service team who can walk you through the set-up process.

NOTE: You’ll be prompted to choose your domain name first, only then will you be able to set up your email addresses.

5. Business Phone Number

Having a business phone line is just as important as having an email address. The number we give you comes with the Georgia area code of your choice. Our free iOS or Android apps make it easy to access your business phone number on your current smart phone (available for download in US app stores). In other words, you’ll be able to access both personal and business calls from the same device, and be able to easily distinguish the two.

Do I need a business phone line?

Just like having a business email, it’s a good idea to have a phone line strictly for business. For one thing, it’s more professional. For another, you won’t have to worry about how you answer your phone whenever it rings. You’ll know immediately whether it’s a personal call or a business call.

Can I choose any Georgia area code?

Yes, subject to availability, you can select from any area code! The state of Georgia has 10 unique area codes you can choose from, including four in the city of Atlanta: 404, 470, 678, and 943. Alternatively, you can choose any U.S. area code for your business phone number.

How do I set up my business phone number?

You’ll be able to set up your business phone number once you log into your client account.
